After a brief respite from their last mission the group was contacted by Varika again with a new mission and an additional agent to join them. Quetzcoatl, after being vetted by Firewall, was given agent status. The group then proceed to investigate a series of strange deaths were the victims were seemingly ripped apart and drained of blood. These crimes all took place in areas that were unmonitored so there was no footage of the actual crimes.
The group obtained footage of one of the recent attacks and saw that an invisible thing was ripping people apart. They decided to investigate a series of leads including mapping the attacks and eventually determined the location of a crime that went unreported. The team tagged the body with nanobots hoping that whatever was causing these deaths would return. The team went about their business until they got a hit on the taggants. They pursued the signal to a tunnel that run under the city for pedestrian traffic. As they approached they realized that the thing was invisible to the visible spectrum as well as many additional EM spectrums. Echo location was the one clear method for determining where it appeared to be. The group struggled to fight it as it was fast and incredibly strong wounding several members of the party before succumbing to its wounds from automatic weapons fire. It turned out to be a human like creature with long fangs and an incredibly dense muscular form. The group then began refer to these things as vampires sighting there obvious similarities. The group took the body back to their lab for a study of the creature. They discovered it had amazing regenerative cells and that it must feed on people to sustain its body’s energy needs.
The team then began to investigate a variety of leads to track down the identity of this “person” or thing that was once human. Kira decided to investigate a lead at a local club after Q had located footage of the thing being there. Kira’s investigation yielded little but a man hit on her and they decided to go back to his place. However on their walk back the identity of the “vampire” was determined to be Andrew Smith who was the exact same person Kira was standing next to. Kira decided to attempt to kill him before he did any harm to her but as she watched he transformed into a monster. After a hard fought battle she was ripped apart by the creature. The group immediately rushed to her last known location since she was linked via tac net and they witnessed the whole thing. The thing was gone but a location for Andrew Smith was determined and the team proceeded there immediately. They soon engaged this creature again and once again killed it after heavy fighting. They raided his apartment finding all the heads of the slain victims including Kira’s. They then placed Kira in a vat to heal and be regenerated.
While Kira was brought back to life, the team continued tracking leads. The Doctor did some experimentation and created a vampire rat that killed all the other rats before being killed and frozen. Q then combed through footage around the club seeing that Andrew Smith had frequented this location but never seemed to leave. It eventually hacked the club and looked through their private cameras. From this it was determined that Andrew Smith was with a neotenic morph that went to a warehouse. The warehouse tracked to a company called Rif Industries. At this point Kira was revived from her 15 hour regeneration. Q attempted to hack the building and was immediately discovered at which point the building caught on fire. The team rushed into the structure and managed to recover a hard drive and several cortical stacks from the pit of heads they found as the place burned.
Q immediately began tracking the city for the two individuals. The neotenic was now identified as Jake Philips a bioengineer that was in the employment of Rif Industries. He was tracked to the spaceport where Gena used her rep contacts to detain him. However by the time they went to interrogate him in his room he was dead and his cortical stack was melted. The third Andrew Philips was also identified from the warehouse and the team was instructed to pursue him since he left the city to Noctis.
